Angela Lee: New Volunteer
Angela Lee, a Masters of Public Health student from Tufts University, will be working for NFSC for the next five months. She will be working on different public health initiatives as well as strengthening NFSC's capacity to deliver critical services to children in need. "Party with a Purpose" a Resounding Success!
The first annual Party with a Purpose was held on Saturday August 23. The party featured pictures from the "Colorful Cups" display taken by NFSC volunteer Tim Williams. Party with a Purpose was hosted by Laura Mitchell, and donations totaled nearly $600 with proceeds benefiting NFSC's breakfast program.

NFSC at the XVII International AIDS Conference, Mexico City, August 3-8 2008
This August, Rosette Serwanga (NFSC) and Dr. Martha Vibbert (The SPARK Center) traveled to Mexico City to present findings from a 2007 NFSC Assessment at the XVII International AIDS Conference. The poster was titled Designing HIV-targeted mental health care within a community-based health program in rural Uganda: Listening to the voices of children, caregivers, and community leaders.August 26, 2008
NFSC Photo Exhibit Travels to Jamaica Plain for the Month of August
Urban Medical Group in Jamaica Plain and The SPARK Center will co-host NFSC's photo exhibit highlighting the work of the Breakfast Project for the month of August. As part of Jamaica Plain Centre/South Main Streets First Thursdays Initiative Urban Medical will also host a kick-off reception for the exhibit on Thursday, August 7 from 6-8 pm. All are invited! From One Foot to Another: Football (Soccer) Bringing Children Together
"Kids everywhere should be able to play soccer with good equipment and nice uniforms," said Jared Fizek, a 12 year-old boy from
Boston. So Jared did something about it. Jared put on a fundraiser in Boston that raised enough money to buy dozens of new uniforms
for the children of NFSC. His mother and sister then accompanied Jared to Uganda to support the program and play soccer with the
children of Namugongo Fund.

NFSC/Uganda - NFSC/USA Board Meeting a Resounding Success
Rosette Serwanga, Dan Curley and Laura Fizek, Director of Organization Development, JRI Health - CTPD spearheaded a series of strategic meetings that took place in Uganda with the NFSC Board in Uganda and worked with Ugandan partners JCRC, TASO and the new OVC Coalition, "SUCCESS". NFSC and partners also put on an awards ceremony at Hotel Africana. Hosted by UNAIDS Special Representative and Ugandan national Gaetano Kagwa, the program formally recognized the efforts of its volunteers, staff, and AIDS advocates in the local community.July 29, 2008
